A Summer Filled with STEM

In the summer of 2015, I had ample opportunities for cool STEM experiences! For example, the BGC was running a program called NASA’s BEST, which was filled with many kinds of cool experiments for kids from Pre-k to high school! We did things like dairy fireworks, experimented with vinegar and baking soda, and many more. I even spent two weeks at Camp Hidden Valley helping with robotics out there. Because I volunteered, I got to be a part of it all. It’s an experience I would definitely recommend. It was kind of frustrating at times, but it became easier every week as I got closer to the kids at the camp. If I didn’t have patience or commitment already, it would’ve been impossible to do what was needed to be done. These kids can be crazy! I definitely felt like I was needed and enjoyed helping Mr. Dan work with the younger kids. And because I had a relationship with both Mr. Dan’s, it made the time at the Club much more fun.
