STARS: Summer Camp for Techies/Nerds

cameronSTARS was a experience that I loved. I was shocked by how it was better than I expected. The staff were nice and helpful and the trips and experiments were fun nine times out of ten. The trips to ATK, the GM plant, Systems Source, and ARL on APG were fun and very interesting. Our trip to ARL and ATK were great because we saw a tank completing an obstacle course and learned more about keeping soldiers safe. At the automotive plant we learned about the transmission. At the trip to Systems Source we learned how to program cars on the computer. We took a class called Animation With Alice to further our programming skills. The experiments we did were creating a light bulb and making our own soda. The light bulb was fun because we saw the batteries heat up the lead turn an orange color, then a bright yellow and transform into a super nova. The soda was fun for me because while every one in my group made their soda better, my soda got worse. It went from stanky feet to sweaty socks and stanky feet. Over all I loved the program and hope I can do it next year.
