The STEM room during the summer so far has been such an experience for me! I’ve learned so much. I enjoyed everything, from working on the marble rollercoasters to doing different types of models for different groups of kids. I even enjoyed doing the bottle rockets by creating my very own bottle rocket and watching and helping out the younger kids with their rockets. Another thing I enjoyed was Alice3 and Scratch, in Alice3 I created a dancing panda and in Scratch I created a maze with different animation characters the player can choose from. STEM has impacted me so much more than I imagined it would. To be honest, I never knew I would have enjoyed STEM so much until I was at the Boys & Girls Club of Harford County.
I even learned from the children! Like how to teach them and I even learned how each child’s emotions are way different than another kid. It’s been such a treat helping out in the STEM room with the fellow staff and kids. I have created connections with the kids so much that they are not afraid to tell me what’s wrong. It’s like being a mentor to kids just like I was when I was younger. I love being in the STEM room and I can’t wait to see what’s new tomorrow.
