On December 19th, five youth from the 4th and 5th grades traveled to the National Aquarium in Baltimore to compete in the 1st Annual Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM Challenge.
They worked hard the weeks prior to design and build a prototype that would help a blind child navigate the ever changing environment of a classroom, without assistance from their peers. They presented their design to a panel of judges, and were able to secure 3rd place in the challenge.
After the awards were given, the kids were allowed to roam the Aquarium, and experience the fun that it has to offer. The kids had a great time, and learned a lot about what they need to do to win 1st place next year!
